AMHERST, Mass. - The Minutewomen tennis team continued their dominance on their home court Monday afternoon, celebrating Senior Day with a, 5-2, victory over Quinnipiac. The win improved the team's record to 12-6 overall and 7-2 in Amherst this year. Prior to the match, the team honored senior captain Maude Lecluyse, who will play her final match at Mullins Courts on Friday when the squad hosts Albany.

The day got off to an emotional start for the Minutewomen, with a ceremony for Lecluyse to start the match. The Montreal, Canada native played her 109th career match, placing her second all-time at UMass. The team responded with fantastic doubles play, taking two out of the three matches to claim the point. Tanisha Hodgson and Julia Comas teamed up to knock-off Rachel Cantor and Sarah Viebrock, 8-4, at second doubles. With the two teams even at a doubles match apiece, Kaitlyn Carpenter and Jocelyn Providence earned a big break point, and went on to serve for the victory against Natalie Duckor and Shawna Sarson, winning 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

UMass would waste no time in clinching the victory, winning three singles matches in a row to go up 4-0. Carpenter was the first to finish at fifth singles, making quick work of Duckor, 6-1, 6-1. Comas continued her impressive play, coming back to beat Mary Wilson after losing the first two games of the first set. The freshman went on to win 12 of the next 15 games to win the match, 6-4, 6-1.

Lecluyse was not to be outdone on her senior day, coming all the way back after losing in a first set tiebreak to claim her 51st career singles victory. The captain went on to beat Viebrock, 6-7, 6-3, 10-7. Candynce Boney also continued her stellar singles play, winning her sixth-straight match at No. 2 singles, defeating Cantor, 6-1, 6-4.

The Minutewomen will close out their season on Friday afternoon when they host Albany at Mullins Courts (2 p.m.).
