A full weekend of UMass action -- all on the road -- gets underway this afternoon when the softball is back in action against Illinois-Chicago at 5 p.m. ET, out in San Diego. The #25 Minutewomen also take on San Diego at 7:30 p.m. The baseball team continues its spring break trip at William & Mary, seeking its first win of the season at 7 p.m. JTAM has lots of stories on UMass alums as well.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
- Baylor fended off a pesky Sam Houston State team, 68-59, for the Bears first win in the NCAA Tournament in 60 years. The Bears' AD is former UMass AD Ian McCaw and the hoops team's director of operations Tim Maloney is UMass' former Associate Head Coach.
- UMass alum Tony Barbee and UTEP had its season end on Thursday in a 77-59 loss to Butler.
- Atlantic 10 for Richmond fell to Saint Mary's 80-71, to finish its season.
- In the biggest upset of the night, Ohio beat Georgetown, 97-83. Former UMass Associate AD for Compliance Tricia Turley is in the same role at Ohio U.
- And of course, John Calipari and Kentucky easily handled East Tennessee State, 100-71.
