Box Score

BOSTON - Colby and Zach Cohen each had two goals and an assist to lead Boston University to a 7-3 win over the #15 UMass hockey team on Saturday afternoon at Agganis Arena. Despite having a season-high 12 power plays for the game, the Minutemen could not stop the Terrier attack which posted a pair of goals in the first and second period and three in the third.

Boston University (5-9-3, 3-7-2 HEA) jumped out to a strong start in the first period outshooting UMass 13-to-4 and getting goals scored by Nick Bonino and Alex Chiasson on the power play. UMass' T.J. Syner sandwhich his own power play goal between the two Terrier goals as it was 2-1 at the first intermission.

In the second period, it was again a pair of BU goals with a UMass score in between as Zach Cohen made it a 3-1 game before UMass Casey Wellman pulled the Minutemen back within one. With eight seconds left in the second period, Colby Cohen scored a 4x4 goal to push the lead back to two, 4-2, heading into the third period.

Each Cohen added goals in the third and Eric Gryba scored an empty net goal at the 17:56 mark to make it a 7-3 game. Will Ortiz scored the lone UMass goal of the period.

Paul Dainton made 22 saves in goal for UMass, while Kieran Millan made 20 in the win for Boston University.

The Minutemen will return to action next weekend with a Saturday night game at New Hampshire and a Sunday night game at Northeastern. The game at Northeastern will be televised live on ESPNU and ESPNU-HD with the opening puck drop slated for 8 PM.
