The sellout crowd of 50,750 was the third-largest ever to watch UMass play a game. The record of 53,190 was set last season at Texas Tech. In 2002, 51,221 watched UMass at NC State.

Andrew Krevis scored his first-career touchdown on a four-yard pass in the third quarter. It was also Kyle Havens first TD pass at UMass.

UMass travelled with 19 players who had never played in a game at UMass. That included six true freshmen. Of those true freshmen Perry McIntyre saw action on the opening kickoff and all game long.

D.J. Adeoba played in the first game of his career returning a blocked punt 26-yards for a touch down. He finished the game with seven tackles.

Ke'Mon Bailey played his first UMass game at defensive back where he had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also had six tackles, three for loss.
