The first day of classes at UMass is finally here. Good luck to all the students as they begin the Fall 2009 semester. In the latest FCS polls, UMass remained No. 17 in the media Sports Network poll and No 18 in the Coaches poll. Also with the start of school, the Daily Collegian is being printed again. We will have plenty of links to those stories.

Hope those you with the day off enjoy your Labor Day holiday. Busy weekend for the UMass teams. The football squad narrowly pulled off the upset at Kansas State, falling by four, 21-17. The field hockey team had a huge win over No. 9 Iowa, 4-3 on Saturday. Big news from the NFL where three Minutemen alums made NFL rosters: Jeremy Cain (Jaguars), James Ihedigbo (Jets) and Matt Lawrence (Ravens). Also in JTAM a feature from the Boston Globe on soccer's Sam DeNormandie.
