Coen Signs With af2's Manchester Wolves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - All-time UMass passing leader Liam Coen has signed with the Manchester (N.H.) Wolves of Arena Football 2. He will suit up this weekend as the Wolves play in the af2 playoffs at the Iowa Barnstormers. Coen joins former UMass kicker Chris Koepplin with the Wolves.

Coen left UMass as the all-time leading passer in school history with 11,031 yards. He was a Walter Payton Award Candidate in 2007 and 2008.

He was a Second-Team All-CAA pick last season after being the CAA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He is listed on more than 30 record charts in UMass history. Coen became 21st QB in FCS history with 10,000 career passing yards in the win over Bryant.

He holds nearly every career record in UMass passing history. First in passing yards (11,031) passing efficiency (152.92), completion percentage (63.9), TD passes (90), completions (830), and attempts (1,303). Among all-time FCS quarterbacks, 11,031 yards ranks 12th all-time and 90 touchdowns ranks 14th all-time in history.

Among all active QBs in FCS in 2008, he ranked first in career touchdowns (90), second in yards (11,031), second in completions (830), third in attempts (1,303), fifth in career pass efficiency (152.92), sixth in completion pct. (63.9). UMass was 36-13 in his 49 starts dating to 2005. (36-9 vs. FCS teams). As a senior, this season, ranked 16th in NCAA in pass efficiency (145.5) on 206-of-334 for 2749 yards with 24 passing touchdowns and just 15 interceptions.
