He hails from Concord, but not the one you're thinking of. Unlike many of his teammates, Kyle Havens traveled over 3,000 miles to don a football jersey for the Minutemen.

A California native, Havens transferred to UMass from Diablo Valley College prior to the spring of 2009 to get a semester of acclimation to FCS football. He is now set to battle for the starting quarterback position this fall.

A very smart and sharp student, Havens was honored for his work both on and off the field at Diablo Valley. He was a NorCal All-Conference Second Team selection, averaging more than 300 yards per game while also being recognized as a Gridwire Academic All-American.
