Minutewomen Rank 35th At ECAC Championships

Roxbury, Mass. - The UMass women's track and field team competed at the ECAC Championships in Roxbury, Mass. over the weekend. The Minutewomen came in 35th of 50 teams. Duke University won the event with 56 points, while the Minutewomen amassed six. The top performance of the day came from redshirt senior Kristen Bakanowski (Northboro, Mass.) who vaulted a season-best 12-09.50 for a third place finish in the pole vault. For that score, she racked up six points, which would account for all of UMass' scoring.
In the field, sophomore Stephanie Aguguo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) triple jumped a mark of 37-03.75 to rank 21st. Ida Okkonen (Kuopio, Finland) long jumped a distance of 17-04.00 to finish 23rd overall.
The distance medley relay team (Taryn Trapp, Holly Heinricher, Gina Perno, and Karen Roa) ran a 12:19.19 for a 15th place finish. Brittany Bakanowski, Deanna Julian, Ros Murphy, and Heinricher also ran the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:55.72 for a 23rd place ranking.
The Minutewomen kick off their outdoor season April 4 at the UConn Invitational.
