Another big weekend is on tap for UMass teams and its fans. The hockey season gets underway with a preseason game against New Brunswick on Saturday at the Practice Rink. Earlier in the day, the men's soccer team hosts Fordham at 1 p.m. The #9 field hockey team plays at #6 Syracuse on Saturday before returning home to play Yale, Sunday. On Sunday, many teams will participate in the Friends of Jaclyn Walk at Amherst College.

Happy October! The 10th month of the year has arrives as we enter the home stretch of 2009. Wednesday was a big day in the hockey world as Hockey East held its media day in Boston. There are stories in JTAM on the event from the TD Garden as well as news from the football team, field hockey, men's soccer and tennis team, which is in action on Thursday at Holy Cross.

Wednesday is Hockey East Media Day at the TD Garden in Boston. Be sure to check back for updates from Toot Cahoon in Boston. The UMass Sports Luncheon will be held at 12:15 p.m., the Campus Center Cape Cod Room with football coach Kevin Morris and cross country/track and field coach Ken O'Brien as the featured guest speakers. Also NBA teams held their media days with Marcus Camby and Tony Gaffney in L.A.
