New UMass Recreation Center Now Open

AMHERST, Mass. - The university is pleased to announce that the new Recreation Center opened Friday morning. We hope each of you will find time to visit and begin using this state-of-the-art building as part of your health and fitness routine.
The Recreation Center will serve as a major new focus of campus life and student activity, where you can benefit from the latest in exercise and training equipment. We urge you to take advantage of the many opportunities that it offers.
As you know, the center's opening was unfortunately delayed as we encountered unexpected difficulties in completing the final assessment and testing of safety systems. However, by working closely with local fire officials and the state building inspector, we have secured approval to open the building. We know you have been anxiously awaiting the chance to use the facility, and we apologize for the delay. But the wait is over, and we invite you to head over and enjoy this wonderful new resource designed for you.
