AMHERST, Mass. - UMass field hockey head coach Justine Sowry has announced Eileen Seffron as an addition to the newcomers for 2008. "I am delighted with the late addition to our 2008 class," Sowry said. "Eileen is a very athletic and versatile forward and will add an immediate punch to the forward line. She will bring a new skill level and dynamic in the attacking half of the field and I expect her to compete for a position on the starting lineup in her first year."

Eileen Seffron comes from Rancho Buena Vista High School in San Diego, California. Seffron has played field hockey for six years. In high school, Seffron was a varsity starter all four years as a midfielder. Seffron was named team captain both her junior and senior year. In high school, Seffron was also a forward on the soccer team. Seffrom scored 39 goals in her high school career (2004-06) and was the starting forward on varsity from 2005-06. As a sophomore and junior, Seffron was also a member of the track and field team.

Seffron has accumulated numerous awards in high school for field hockey. Both sophomore and senior year, Seffron was named MVP and junior year was named Best Offensive Player. From 2005-07, Seffron was 1st team in the Avocado League and 1st Team Division I All CIF. Seffron was also 2nd Team San Diego County All CIF (2005-06) and 1st Team San Diego County All CIF (2007).
