UMass Drops Match To College Of Charleston, 6-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. - UMass lost their second and final match of their spring break road trip, 6-1 to the College of Charleston. This was the second match up between the two teams with the last meeting occurring during the 1982 season. College of Charleston now holds a 2-0 record over the Minutewomen.
Laura Danai (Holyoke, Mass.) was perfect on the day earning the lone point for the Minutewomen during her marathon No. 6 singles match winning, 6-4, 5-7, 14-12. She also won her doubles match from the second flight with partner Maude Lecluyse (Montreal, Canada), 8-4.
With her wins today, Danai was perfect on the week going 2-0 in doubles play and 2-0 in singles play. The only other doubles team to win in doubles play were Stephanie Gimenez (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Kaitlyn Carpenter (Alburtis, Pa.) who won their No. 4 doubles game, 8-5, but the game did not count towards match play.
The Minutewomen are back in action against Yale on March 26 at 2:30 p.m.
