Columbia Tops UMass, 5-2

After defeating Fordham on Friday, 5-2, UMass received the opposite fate with Columbia losing to the Lions by the same score. The usually strong UMass doubles team was routed, and for the first time this season didn't receive the doubles point of the match. The Minutewomen fall back to .500 in dual meets with a record of 2-2.
Senior Masha Pozar (LjubLjana, Slovenia) and junior Laura Murillo (Holyoke, Mass.) were the only people to win on the day with their wins coming in No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-4) and No. 6 singles (6-4, 6-3) respectively.
The usually strong doubles team of Pozar and Candynce Boney (Las Vegas, N.V.) lost for the first time in dual meet action this year, 8-5. Maude Lecluyse (Montreal, Canada) and Murillo competed in the closest match of the day losing to Columbia, 9-7.
UMass returns to action this Friday against Binghamton in a two-day event hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
