Men Place Fifth and Women Place Sixth at UConn Invitational

In the men's events, freshman Brian Miller (Foxboro, Mass.) finished in 11.25 seconds to place tenth in the 100 meter dash. In the 400 meter dash, senior Manny Harris-Lopes (Roxbury, Mass.) took second place in 49.37 seconds, while junior Nathan Barksdale (Valparaiso, Indiana) was right behind in third place with a time of 50 seconds. In the 800 meter run, sophomore Josh Boone (Gardner, Mass.) took eighth place to finish in 1:58.98.
Freshman Ryan DiOrio (Bridgewater, N.J) took fifth place in the 1500 meter run finishing with a time of 4:01.89. Junior Nils Fischer (Stow, Mass.) took seventh place with a time of 4:03.21, while junior Ryan Durkin (Andover, Mass.) finished in 4:05.80 placing ninth. Sophomore Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) took third place in the 3000 meter steeplechase to finish in 9:49.94.
Freshman Tyler Cotto (Holliston, Mass.) took fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles to finish in 15.53 seconds, while junior Kevin Ianetta (Tewksbury, Mass.) was right behind in sixth place with a time of 15.77 seconds. In the 400 meter hurdles, Ianetta took fourth place in 56.77 seconds, while senior Jonathan Morse (Seekonk, Mass.) placed ninth in 1:00.16.
The men's relay team took second place in the 4x100 meter relay to finish with a time of 43.15 seconds. In the 4x400 meter relay, the team placed sixth with a time of 3:35.57.
In field events, sophomore Steve Gerome (Waltham, Mass.) took fifth place in the long jump competition with a distance of 21 feet, 8 inches. In the high jump competition, sophomore Mark Anderson (Natick, Mass.) placed seventh with a jump of 5 feet, 9 ¼ inches.
In other women's events, sophomore Dionise Miranda (Brockton, Mass.) placed twelfth in the 100 meter with a time of 12.98 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, freshman Nicole Serapiglia (Northboro, Mass.) placed tenth with a time of 1:01.94. DeRosa placed seventh in the 1500 meter run in 4:55.76, while freshman Taryn Trapp (Nampa, Idaho) placed eleventh with a time of 5:02.32.
In the 5000 meter run, senior Amber Sayer (Amherst, Mass.) placed sixth with a time of 18:53.29. Right behind in seventh place was senior Cuisle Kierans (Newbury, Mass.) with a time of 19:11.75 and sophomore Eilis Kierans (Newbury, Mass.) in eighth place with a time of 19:21.14. In the 100 meter hurdles, graduate student Mary Serdakowski (Richmond, R.I.) placed sixth with a time of 15.31 seconds, while freshman Alexandra Haller (Marblehead, Mass.) placed tenth in 16.55 seconds. Freshman Brittany Bakanowski (Northboro, Mass.) took eight place in the 400 meter hurdles finishing in 1:09.04.
In the 4x100 meter relay, senior Troyanah Evans (Cambridge, Mass.), Miranda, Serdakowski, and Bakanowski placed third with a time of 50.92 seconds. The team of Bakanowski, sophomore Elizabeth Biehl (Northboro, Mass.), junior Amanda Bodette (East Middlebury, Vt.), and junior Brittany Canfield (Southwick, Mass.) placed seventh in the 4x400 meter relay finishing with a time of 4:15.41.
Next weekend, both the men's and women's team will return to action as UMass will host the UMass Six-Way Meet on Saturday, April 14.
