* UMass held Hofstra to just eight first downs. The school record for fewest first downs is 0 by Cooper Union against UMass in 1931. It was the fewest since Albany had six first downs back in 2005.
* Matt Lawrence had his eighth 100-yard rushing game of the season with 101.
* Liam Coen had his sixth-career 300-yard passing game of his career.
* J.J. Moore had his sixth career 100-yard receiving game with 155 on 11 catches. UMass is now 5-1 those 100-yard games.
* Moore had 11 catches for the third-best day in UMass history. He holds a share of the school record with 13 set back in 2005 at Colgate.
* Moore moved to fourth in single-season catches with 11 against Hofstra giving him 65. He passed Tim Berra (62 in 1973), Brandon London (60 in 2006) and Marcel Shipp (54 in 1999).
* Moore also moved to sixth in single-season receiving yards with 155 yards today giving him 891. Moore went by a slew of players: Kerry Taylor (854 in 1998), Chip Mitchell (819 in 1989), Bob Simeone (794 in 1984), Brandon London (781 in 2006 and 774 in 2005).
* Liam Coen moved to seventh in single-season passing with 309 yards in the game. Coen now has 2,251 moved past: Jeff Krohn (2,032), Dave Palazzi (2,043), and Richard Lucero (2,065). Coen himself had the seventh-best mark at 2,175, set in 2005.
* Matt Lawrence moved to seventh in single-season rushing at UMass with 101 yards in the game as he now has 1306. He passed Rene Ingoglia (1285), and Frank Alesssio (1276).
* Rasheed Rancher moved to ninth in career receiving yards with his 35-yard TD catch in the second quarter. He passed Steve Schubert (1,435) and now has 1,453.
* J.J. Moore's 42-yard touchdown reception from Liam Coen was his 15th career TD reception. Moore is now tied for fourth in career TD catches with Brandon London (2003-06), Tim Berra (1971-73), and Lou Bush (1931-33).
* Rancher's 13th career TD catch, moved him to a tie for ninth in UMass history just behind Moore. Rancher is tied with Kerry Taylor with 13.
* On Hofstra's first offensive play of the game, Jeromy Miles intercepted Bryan Savage on a ball that was deflected first by Charles Walker and then Michael Meggett. It was Miles' second interception in as many weeks, for his two pick-offs this season.
