Austin, Calicchio Named To A-10 Football Academic Team

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass offensive linemen Matt Austin (Reading, Mass.) and Sean Calicchio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were named to the Atlantic 10 Football Academic All-Conference Team. The duo were among the players named to the team for having over 3.0 cumulative GPAs and being key players on the team. Austin majors in Sport Management, while Calicchio is seeking a degree in Sociology.
Junior Austin started 14 games at left guard on the season and was a named a third-team All-American as he helped lead the way for tailback Steve Baylark as he gained 1,960 yards this year. He was also an Atlantic 10 First Team selection, New England Football Writers All-Star and ECAC All-Star.
Sophomore Calicchio, who suffered a broken arm in the first game of the year returned during the playoffs and was a key reserve as UMass made its run to the national championship game.
