AMHERST, Mass. - Nadia Villarroel picked a great time to score her first goal of the 2006 season, leading UMass over UAlbany (1-5-0) by the score of 1-0 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. UMass improves to 4-1-0 on the season with the win, which marks its fourth-straight.
The Great Danes were tough to put away, almost taking the lead with less than 17 minutes remaining in the first half. Scovia Oraro's shot hit the crossbar and fell down to Kristin Walker to keep it scoreless. Walker made a total of three saves in the game, earning her second shutout of the season.
Melissa Toulouse was afforded a penalty kick early in the second, but the shot went wide for the Minutewomen. Villarroel's gamewinner came one minute and 35 seconds into overtime, assisted by Britt Canfield and Sydney Stoll.
UMass returns to action on Friday, Sept. 15 when they travel to Yale. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
