Four Minutemen Named ECAC All-Stars

CAPE COD, Mass. - Four Minutemen football players were named ECAC I-AA All-Stars. Offensive lineman Matt Austin, tailback Steve Baylark, safety James Ihedigbo and center Alex Miller were named to the first team. Wide receiver Brandon London and punter Christian Koegel were named to the ECAC Honorable Mention team.

The Interim Commissioner of the ECAC Steve Bamford has announced the ECAC Division IAA Football All-Stars. University of New Hampshire junior quarterback Ricky Santos has been named ECAC Player of the Year, in addition to first team offensive honors. Santos, received the 2006 Walter Payton Award, which is given annually to the most outstanding football player in Division I-AA while being named a Walter Camp All-American and the Atlantic 10 Football Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Leading the Wildcats to the national quarterfinals for the third straight year and a 9-4 overall record, Santos threw for an impressive 3,125 yards and 29 touchdowns in addition to netting 378 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

Monmouth University freshman running back David Sinisi has earned ECAC Rookie of the Year honors for his debut with the Hawks. The Northeast Conference Offensive Rookie of the Year rushed for 790 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season helping the Hawks capture their fifth NEC Championship. The ECAC will honor seven football players of the year and rookies of the year this month. These will include one each in Division I-A, I-AA and II and four in the Division III (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest). Throughout the season, the conference honored more than 150 players of the week in the publicity bureau.

Santos and Sinisi will be honored at the annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet presented by FieldTurf Tarkett at the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 15, 2007. The annual event honors the top football playing institutions and student-athletes in the East. The banquet will feature the presentation of the Lambert Meadowlands Awards, the ECAC Players of the Year and Rookies of the Year, the ECAC Teams of the Year, as well as the Red Hill Awards which recognize the ECAC Football Officials of the Year.
