CHAMPIONSHIP NOTEBOOK #1: Minutemen Arrive In Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The UMass football team arrived around Noon on Wednesday in Chattanooga and held its first media session and practice. The team took a charter flight from Westover Air Force Base before checking into its hotel, hosting a session with the media, practicing at Finley Field, and then spending some time at the bowling alley. UMass will spend some time on Thursday working on a housing project for Habitat For Humanity on Thursday before holding another media session and then practicing to get ready for Friday's National Championship game against Appalachian State on Friday night which will be aired live on ESPN2.
The day was an early start for the Minutemen who had breakfast on the UMass campus at 7:30 a.m. The team was greeted by the band and fans before boarding the buses for the airport.
Once down in Tennessee, the team checked into the hotel before heading over for its first practice at Finley Field.
The team held a brief media session after taking its official team photo to commemorate making the National Championship game.
Reporters from all over the East Coast spoke with members of the team and head coach Don Brown about the upcoming game.
Following practice, the team relaxed with some pizza and bowling before turning for the night.
Thursday will be a busy day for UMass as the Minutemen will work on a housing project for Habitat For Humanity before hosting a press conference and then practice.
The Minutemen will face defending National Champion Appalachian State on Friday night. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
