Jason Hatchell Named UMass/Dinn Brothers Athlete of the Week

Hatchell led the Minuteman defense to a 28-20 win over New Hampshire

AMHERST, Mass. ­ Junior Linebacker Jason Hatchell (Mullica Hill, N.J.) had a career-high 18 tackles, seven solo tackles, a pass break-up and a tackle for loss, helping the No. 3 ranked Minutemen to a 28-20 win over No. 9 New Hampshire. He made five crucial tackles in the fourth quarter including a solo stop of Ricky Santos on third and goal forcing UNH to go for it on fourth down. Hatchell was named the Billy Knight MVP (Player of the Game) for his performance.

On Monday he was named a I-AA.org National All-Star for his performance in the New Hampshire game.

The Minutemen have won seven games in a row and have not done so since the 2003 season. With this win UMass is now 8-1 overall, and 6-1 in the A-10.

Hatchell will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, November 8 at Noon. The luncheon will be held at the Campus Center, Room 1009. The guest speakers will be Football Coach Don Brown, Football Operations Mike Hodges and Men¹s Basketball Coach Travis Ford.
