AMHERST, Mass. - Senior defensive back Tracy Belton (Landover, Md.) has been named the UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 13. Against No. 19 Maine on Saturday, Belton picked off his 13th career interception, and recorded five tackles, including one sack. He secured the 10-9 victory for No. 3 UMass when he recovered an on-sides kick, allowing the Minutemen to run out the clock and claim the A-10 North title.

Belton is now tied for fourth among active NCAA players and sixth all-time at UMass for career interceptions.

The victory was UMass' eighth in a row, tying a school record. Belton and the Minutemen will have an opportunity to break the record on Senior Day, when they face Hofstra at McGuirk Alumni Stadium at Noon on Saturday, November 18 for the regular season finale. The Minutemen are in position to host multiple home playoff games though, as they clinched the A-10's automatic qualifying bid to the I-AA playoffs with the win.

Belton will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, November 15 at Noon. The luncheon will be held at the Campus Center, Room 1009. The guest speakers will be Football Coach Don Brown, Hockey Coach Don Cahoon, and Men¹s Basketball Coach Travis Ford.
