Minutewomen To Take On WPSL All Stars

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass Minutewomen will take on the WPSL All Stars in a fundraising match on Saturday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. at Rudd Field. Tickets are $5 (adults) and $3 (students/children) and will be available at the gate. There will be free raffles and prizes for those who attend, including a UMass-WPSL All Star prize package.

The WPSL All-Stars will be comprised of players from the Eastern Division of the Women's Premier Soccer League. For Summer 2005, the WPSL Eastern Division will be made up of the 2004 Eastern Division champion and WPSL National Finalist New England Mutiny, the second-place side Steel City Sparks (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Boston-North Aztecs, Maryland Pride (Baltimore, Md.), Massachusetts Stingers, Philadelphia Pirates, South Shore Select (Boston Area) and the Rhode Island Rays. Some of the players already committed to play for the WPSL All Stars are former Women's United Soccer Association stars Kerry Connors (San Diego), Erin O'Grady (Boston), 2004 First Team All-WPSL selection Jessica Gjertsen and one of the all-time leading scorers in Minutewoman soccer history, Rachel LeDuc.
