AMHERST, Mass. - UMass quarterback Tim Day was named to the Dinn Brothers UMass Athlete of the Week on Wednesday at the Weekly Sports Luncheon held at the Campus Center. Day set a school record for completion percentage in a game, completing 17-of-19 passes in the 51-0 win at Delaware State last Saturday. Day was presented his honor by head coach Don Brown. Both Brown and Day spoke to the more than 100 UMass supporters in attendance at the weekly luncheon. The Voice of UMass Athletics Bob Behler opened the festivities by welcoming men's soccer coach Sam Koch. The coach spoke about his recent team's trip to California, where the Minutemen took on two of the top teams in the nation. Following Koch, George Parks, the UMass Band Director spoke about his music group and there upcoming performance for opening day this Saturday vs. Colgate. Football was the order for the day for the final half-hour as Day and Brown both spoke about the big win. They also showed the crowd highlights of the game and broke down some plays much to the fans delight. The UMass Sports Luncheons are open to the general public. They take place every Wednesday in the Room 1009 of the Campus Center at UMass at Noon. Show up and show your support for the Minutemen and Minutewomen.
