UMass Ranked No. 19 In Preseason Poll

AMHERST, Mass. - Heading into Don Brown's first season as head coach at UMass, the Minutemen are ranked No. 19 in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Division I-AA Football Poll released today. The Minutemen were ranked for much of last season as they advanced to the NCAA playoffs and finished No. 7 in the poll. UMass opens its 2004 season at Delaware State on Sept. 4. The home opener takes place a week later -- under the lights -- as UMass hosts preseason No. 5 Colgate at 6 p.m. at McGurik Stadium. UMass also faces No. 1 and defending national champion Delaware on Sept. 25.
