UMass Football Radio Show Begins Thursday

Amherst, Mass. - The 2004 UMass football season begins this week and so do the weekly coach's radio shows. Coach Don Brown will join Bob Behler, Thursday nights at 7 p.m. at the Hangar Pub & Grill in Amherst, for the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters UMass Football Show." The first show is this Thursday, September 2. Fans are invited to come to The Hangar in person or they can listen on WRNX 100.9 FM or on the internet, free, through www.umassathletics.com via sportsjuice.com. Each week the program will feature two player guests. This week, two of the four captains, senior wide receiver Jason Peebler and junior linebacker Serge Tikum will be interviewed. The first football game broadcast can be heard, Saturday, September 4, as the Minutemen open the season at Delaware State, with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m. The radio network includes WRNX 100.9 FM (Holyoke), WCAP 980 AM (Lowell/Boston), and WATD 95.9 FM (Marshfield/Boston). In addition,all of the football games can be heard over the internet at www.umassathletics.com. The broadcast team will include Behler on play-by-play and former players Doug White and Johnson Owumi on commentary. For the second year in a row, "The Maroon & White Report," a news magazine style program featuring the entire athletic department will air 30-minutes before the pre-game show on WRNX and the internet. The first show, Saturday, September 4 at 12 noon will have season previews with field hockey coach Patty Shea, men's soccer coach Sam Koch, and women's soccer coach Jim Rudy. Host Bob Behler will also talk with former UMass softball pitcher Kaila Holtz on her experiences at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
