AMHERST - The University of Massachusetts football team has been ranked No. 19 in the nation by The Sports Network, in its 2004 Preseason Division I-AA College Football Poll. UMass was previously ranked No. 19 by ESPN/USA Today in its preseason poll, released last week. UMass opens the 2004 season at Delaware State on Sept. 4. The home opener takes place a week later - under the lights - as UMass hosts preseason No. 5 Colgate at 6 p.m. at McGurik Stadium. UMass also faces No. 1 and defending national champion Delaware on Sept. 25. The complete 2004 Sports Newtork Preseason Poll follows.
