CINCINNATI, Ohio - Freshman Britt Canfield (Granville, Mass.) scored twice in the span 1:13 seconds as UMass wrapped up a two-game trip to Ohio with a 2-0 win at Xavier. Goalkeeper Kristin Walker (Lincoln Park, N.J.) posted six saves for her second shutout in as many weeks. UMass raised its record to 3-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 5-8 overall.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie for over 70 minutes of action before UMass finally broke the deadlock. Canfield pushed one past the Xavier goalkeeper Andrea Garber on an unassisted goal at the 70:50 mark. Canfield scored again less than two minutes later from 16 yards out at the 72:03 mark off an assist from freshman Jenny Roehrig. (Coram, N.Y.).
Prior to the two late UMass goals, Xavier had not allowed a goal since the October 8 match at Temple. That stretch by the XU defense covered 272 minutes of action.
Xavier outshot UMass, 15-9, but Walker was up to task in the Minutewomen's goal.
UMass hosts Fordham on Friday at 2:30 p.m., and then welcomes LaSalle for the regular-season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rudd Field.
