Women's Tennis Falls To Barry, 6-3

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The University of Massachusetts fell to Barry in women's collegiate tennis action, 6-3, Tuesday at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex in Miami Shores, Fla. The loss dropped UMass to 3-7 in the spring portion of its schedule. The Minutewomen will take on Florida Atlantic on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
UMass tallied its three points on victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and at No. 5 singles. Playing at the top doubles spot, Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) and Jafra Depontes (Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii) defeated Victoria Courmes and Maria Lopez, 8-4. At No.2 doubles Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) defeated Carole Steinhauser and Greta Trotman, 8-5.
Iwanowicz posted Massachusetts' only singles victory on Tuesday, topping Lopez, 7-6, 6-4.
The Minutewomen will take on Florida Atlantic today at 10:00 a.m. and then conclude their Florida trip on Thursday when they face Lynn.
