Campbell and Swisher named Athletes of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Brooke Campbell (Baltimore, Md.) of the women's basketball team has been named Dinn Bros./UMass Athlete of the Week. Freshman swimmer Evan Swisher (N. Bennington, Vt.) has also earned the accolade for his efforts during the week of Nov. 27, but due to the holiday, has been recognized this week.
Campbell averaged 13.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game and tallied six assists, two blocks and six steals as the Minutewomen went 1-3 last week. At the Coca-Cola Classic this past weekend, she poured in 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with an assist and two steals against Fairfield in the first round Minutewoman loss. Campbell then posted a career-high 20 points,15 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in the 55-52 win over Brown in the third-place game. For her efforts, she was awarded a spot on the All-Tournament team. In the 62-54 loss at Syracuse last Tuesday, Campbell notched four points, 12 rebounds, an assist and two steals. For the season, Campbell is second on the team in scoring at 10.4 ppg and leads the way pulling down 9.0 rpg.
Swisher won two events in the 156-138 Minuteman victory over St. John's on Nov. 22. The Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.40, which also leads the team for the season. Swisher then swam to first-place in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a mark of 1:52.93. In addition, he also swam the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay, as his team took second in the event. With his two respective backstroke times, Swisher currently leads the team in both events.
