Two Minutemen Honored By Atlantic 10

AMHERST, Mass. - Two members of the University of Massachusetts football team have been honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their performances in Saturday's 44-30 victory over New Hampshire. Junior wide receiver Jason Peebler (Modesto, Calif.) has been named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore tailback Steve Baylark (Apopka, Fla.) was selected the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
Peebler caught five passes for 177 yards and two scores against New Hampshire, and received the Bill Knight Trophy as the game's most valuable player. He set new career highs for both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, and added a 14-yard kickoff return to total a career-best 191 all-purpose yards. On the season, Peebler now leads the team with 23 receptions for 467 yards and four touchdowns, while accumulating 638 all purpose yards, Over the course of his UMass career, Peebler has totaled 48 catches for 873 yards and eight scores.
Baylark rushed 26 times for 111 yards and a career-best three touchdowns against New Hampshire, to earn Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week. He has now rushed for over 100 yards four times this season, including each of the last three games. Overall this year, Baylark has now totaled 547 yards and seven scores on 126 carries, in addition to catching nine passes for 64 yards.
The Minutemen (4-1, 3-0 Atlantic 10) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, while they travel to William & Mary for a 1:00 p.m. game.
