AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Steve Baylark rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday as Massachusetts recovered from an early deficit for a 44-30 win over New Hampshire.
New Hampshire (2-4, 0-3 Atlantic 10) took a 14-3 lead in the first quarter on a pair of touchdown passes by Mike Granieri.
But after Granieri's 50-yard scoring pass to David Ball, Massachusetts (4-1, 3-0) took the lead for good by scoring a pair of touchdowns in less than 30 seconds late in the first quarter to start a 27-0 run.
Jeff Krohn threw an 82-yard touchdown pass to Jason Peebler, the longest touchdown pass in school history, with 2:34 to play in the first quarter to start the run. Just 27 seconds later, Baylark scored his first touchdown on a 2-yard run.
Rich Demers caught a 5-yard scoring pass from Krohn, and Baylark scored on another 2-yard run in the second quarter to give the Minutemen a 30-14 halftime lead.
Krohn completed 18 of 35 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns while Peebler finished with five receptions for 177 yards and two scores.
Granieri completed 30 of 53 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns for the Wildcats. Ball caught five passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
