Men's Basketball Crushes Columbia, 66-47

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Jackie Rogers scored 18 points to lead Massachusetts to a wire-to-wire 66-47 victory over Columbia on Thursday.
Rogers fired 8-for-12 from the field as the Minutemen (6-7) cruised to their easiest win of the season.
Massachusetts was on top 33-15 at halftime.
The Minutemen led by as many as 27 points (57-30) with seven minutes to play as the coach Steve Lappas used his subs freely.
Columbia (2-11) lost its fourth straight. Dodson Worthington, with 8 points, was the leader for the Lions, who shot 30.4 from the field compared to UMass's 43.9.
Also helping the Minutemen was Michael Lasme, with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
UMass scored the first nine points of the game and 6:27 elapsed before Marco McCottry hit the first basket for Columbia.
The Lions were 4-for-25 (16 percent) from the field before the break.
By the midway mark of the half, UMass had an 18-5 lead. Rogers had 14 of his points before the break.
