AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass women's crew team finished second to 10th-ranked Syracuse in four races on Onondaga Lake today in Syracuse.
In the Varsity 8 race, host Syracuse turned in a time of 6:39.8, to beat the Minutewomen (6:54.9) and Villanova (7:03.6). The second Varsity 8 race saw Syracuse win in 7:07.3, again followed by UMass (7:27.3) and Villanova (7:47.0).
In the Novice 8, the Orange won in 7:22.0, with UMass (7:42.2) and Villanova (7:50.4) right behind, while the second Novice 8 race was won by Syracuse in 7:52.8 followed by Massachusetts (8:02.7) and Villanova.
The 2002 A-10 champion Minutewomen close out their 2002 schedule at the Dad Vail Regatta, Friday, May 10, in Philadelphia.
