UMass Lands Three On A-10 Academic Team

Amherst, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts placed three student-athletes from its 2003 Atlantic 10 champion women's crew team on the sport's academic All-Conference squad announced today by the league office.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least a 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team. Voting is conducted by the A-10's sports information directors and the number of student-athletes selected to a team reflects the standard-sized team in that sport.
Seniors Mila Gorzkowski (Matawan, N.J.) and Megan Mastropolo (Old Tappan, N.J.), who were selected to the team for the second conecutive year, joined junior teammate Katie O'Brien (Shrewsbury, Mass.) on the 10-member honor squad. Gorzkowski is a 3.68 student in Economics, Mastropolo owns a 3.70 gpa in Hotel, Restaurant & Travel Administration and O'Brien carries a 3.68 gpa in Management.
Massachusetts, which captured the Atlantic 10 championship for the eighth consecutive year last month, closes out its 2003 spring season this weekend at the Dad Vail Regatta, May 9-10, and the Avaya Championships, May 11.
