UMass Men's Gymnastics Receives Bid to NCAAs

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's gymnastics team has been selected as one of 12 teams invited to the National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships in Norman, Okla., the NCAA announced Tuesday. The competition will begin on Thursday, April 4 with the national qualifying competition and continue with the team and individual all-around national championships on Friday, April 5 and individual event finals on Saturday, April 6.
The Minutemen, who finished the season with an 11-1 overall record and a second-place finish at the Eastern College Athletic Conference, will be seeded 10th at the national event. This is the third-consecutive year that head coach Roy Johnson's squad has been invited to the national competition.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for the athletes on our team to show that we can compete on the national level," Johnson said. "We have a very good team and we have the ability to be one of the top six teams and advance to the national championships."
The individual-event finals, which will be held on Saturday, April 6, will include the top eight individuals in each event from Friday night competiton.
