AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's gymnastics team heads to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., this weekend, where it looks to defend its title at the 2002 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship. The Minutemen have won the ECAC title each of the last three seasons, and look to make it four in a row this weekend, and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The team competition will take place on Saturday, March 23, at 3:00 p.m., while the individual titles will be decided on Sunday, March 24, at 3:00 p.m.

The Minutemen own an overall record of 11-1 on the season, having won 11 straight meets since a season-opening loss to top-ranked Penn State. UMass is also coming off a victory at the New England Championship on March 9, where it claimed first place with a total score of 210.400. The Minutemen have scored 210 or better in three of their last four meets, including a season-best total of 210.600 against Springfield College and M.I.T. on March 3.

Should UMass advance, the NCAA Championship will be held from April 4-6 at the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, Okla.
