UMass Volleyball Falls To Temple, 0-3

Philadelphia, Pa.- The University of Massachusetts volleyball fell to defending Atlantic 10 Tournament Champions, Temple University, 0-3 this afternoon at McGonigle Hall. The Minutewomen now stand at 6-3 overall and hold a 1-1 mark in the A-10. Temple improves it's mark to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in A-10 action.
The Minutewomen hit for .185 in the match but were unable to stop the offensive force of the Owls as four players had kills in double digits. Lauren Vander Veen (Oakland, Calif.) tallied a match-high 12 kills in the loss, while Jitka Stehnova (Odolena Voda, Czech Republic) and Lymarie Llovet (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) each posted 7 kills. Llovet led the defensive effort with 11 digs followed by Nitia Small (Los Angeles, Calif.), Janeen DeMarte (El Paso, Texas), Stehnova and Michelle Spaleta (San Pedro, Calif.) with 7 digs apiece.
Temple was paced by Margaret Majewska and Yamit Haba with 11 kills each and Shu Liu and Yun Xu with 10 kills each. Solana Lee had 13 digs and Liu collected 11.
UMass continues play on the road as they travel to Fairfield on Tuesday, Sept. 25 for a non-conference match. The Minutewomen return home to host two A-10 opponents on the weekend including Xavier on Friday, Sept. 28 and Dayton on Saturday, Sept. 29. All matches begin at 7:00 p.m.
