UMass Tennis Drops Two Matches To Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Both the men's and women's University of Massachusetts tennis teams fell to Florida Atlantic yesterday, ending the annual spring break trip to Florida. The men fell to a ranked Owl squad, 7-0, while the women were defeated by a score of 5-2.
The men finished the trip by getting swept yesterday. The only singles player to force a third set was freshman Rory Theis (Bloomington, Minn.). He eventually lost to Florida Atlantic's Kodi Lewis, 3-6, 6-4, and 10-3 in the tiebreaker.
The women picked up two singles wins from the No. 4 and 5 spots. Freshman Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Lindsey Gillooly (Stoughton, Mass.) were both victorious.
This was a good warm-up for UMass for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Conference schedule as both squads featured players ranked in the nation's Top 100.
The women will return to action Saturday, March 31, when they play two matches in Philadelphia, Pa. against Villanova and Duquesne. The men will also play that day at Dartmouth.
