Men's Gymnastics Defeats ECAC Rivals Temple and Navy

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Massachusetts men's gymnastics team garnered 205.300 points and defeated Temple and Navy in a tri-meet held at Temple's McGonigle Hall on Saturday night. The Minutemen outlasted the Owls (203.550) and Midshipmen (199.150) to improve to 8-3 on the year.
Freshman Patrick McFarlin (Longmeadow, Mass.) continued his impressive rookie campaign, taking second place on both the floor exercise (8.950) and pommel horse (8.850). Senior Bryan McNulty (Springfield, Va.) won the vault with a score of 9.000 and placed third on the floor with an 8.850.
Other top performers for the Minutemen included senior Andy Leis (Suffield, Conn.), who placed second on the horizontal bar (8.650), and classmate Ben Kandel (Syracuse, N.Y.), who took second on the still rings (8.550).
UMass returns to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25, when it will try to win its third straight ECAC Championship. The meet will take place in Williamsburg, Va. on the campus of William & Mary.
