Northeastern Gives UMass First Loss, 2-1

Amherst, Mass. -- Northeastern, 1-1, controlled the games as they give UMass their first loss of the year, 2-1 at Garber Field.
The first half saw the Minutewomen offense struggle without taking a shot, while Northeastern compiled three shots and five penalty corners in a span of six minutes. But, it would be UMass that would jump into the lead in the second half, as Lindsay Abbott (Northampton, Mass.) scored off a rebound from the Minutewomen's first shot of the game at 52:05.
Northeastern took the game over in the final ten minutes scoring twice. The Huskies first goal came off their seventh penalty corner of the game by Lorna Dobbie with assists by Krisanne Buchemia and Aleisha Bemis. Just two minutes later the game winner by Huskies would come by Sara Webber at 60:01.
Senior goaltender Zowie Tucker (Neath, South Wales) kept the Minutewomen in the game making four saves on the afternoon. It was the first time the Minutewomen were outshot on the season, totalling only four shots. Tucker drops to 2-1 on the season.
The Minutewomen return to action at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Boston College.
