AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts football team is currently ranked in the top three of the four major national collegiate football I-AA polls. The Minutemen are No. 1 in Don Hansen's Football Gazette poll, while they are No. 3 in The Sports Network, ESPN/USA Today and Jeff Sagarin's Ratings. Troy State is ranked No. 1 in both The Sports Network and the ESPN/USA Today, while UMass opponent Hofstra is No. 1 in the Sagarin's Ratings.

UMass will return to action on Sept. 16 when it travels to Virginia to take on the Richmond Spiders at 1:00 p.m.
