Volleyball's Jill Meyers Receives Atlantic 10 Post-Graduate Scholarship

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts volleyball standout Jill Meyers (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was recently awarded with one of four Atlantic 10 Post-Graduate Scholarships in the amount of $2,000, for her excellence in both academics and athletics at UMass.
The 2000 Division I Woody-Hayes Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, Meyers finished her senior year first on the team in kills with 4.22 kills per game and ranked second in digs with 3.38 a game. She was third on the team in blocks with 0.70 blocks a game. Meyers was named to the AVCA All-District I Team and to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team for her performances throughout the 1999 season. She was a 1999 GTE/CoSIDA Academic District I selection, as well.
Meyers is the school's all-time kills leader with 1,730 career kills. She ranks in the top five on 24 Minutewomen season and career lists, including ranking first in kills, hitting percentage, total blocks, block assists and in matches with double-figure kills. She holds the best single-season hitting percentage with a .308 percentage.
Meyers was named one of Glamour magazine's "Top 10 College Women" and was a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships. The Phi Beta Kappa member graduated this past Spring with a degree in Political Science and English. She will attend graduate school in Spain this Fall.
