Three Swimmers Earn Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors

AMHERST, Mass. -- Three University of Massachusetts swimmers received Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors for their performances versus Connecticut on Saturday, Dec. 9. Senior Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans Memorial H.S.) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week for the third time in four weeks, while junior Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y. / Troy H.S.) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week for the first time this season. Freshman Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass. / Barnstable H.S.) received Rookie of the Week accolades for the third time this season.
Arsenault placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.62 and the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.78, in UMass' 139-104 win over UConn. He was also a member of the first-place 400 free relay team. Arsenault currently has the fastest times in the Atlantic 10 in five events.
Kazanjian placed first in the 100 fly with a time of 59.09, in the 194-106 loss to UConn, which is the third-fastest in the conference this season. She finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.75, which is second in the A-10 behind her own time of 24.54. Kazanjian also has the fastest time in the Atlantic 10 in the 100 free with a time of 53.58.
Dexter finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.43, which moves her to second on UMass' all-time chart for this event. She placed third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:24.35, which is the fourth-fastest time in the conference.
The UMass men and women are both 5-2 on the season, and return to the pool on Jan. 6, when they compete at the Sarasota Invitational, in Sarasota, Fla.
