Wildenhaus Leads Women's Soccer to An Overtime Win

AMHERST, Mass. - Sophomore defender Holly Wildenhaus (Centerville, Ohio) scored the game winning goal 8:37 into the second overtime to lead the University of Massachusetts (7-5/3-1 Atlantic 10 Conference) to a 2-1 victory over St. Joseph's University (3-7/0-3 A-10) Friday afternoon in women's soccer action at Totman Field. It was Wildenhaus' first career goal, sixth point of her career.
UMass got on the board first when senior forward Kara Green (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored, unassisted, 4:54 into the game. The Minutewomen's lead hung on until 48:43 when SJU's sophomore midfielder Katie Watson scored off a pass from freshman midfielder Michelle Ford to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Junior goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) made four saves for UMass, which outshot the Hawks 23-12. St. Joseph's sophomore keeper Christy Ganc made eight saves in the game.
UMass takes to the field again Sunday, October 8, as it hosts Temple at 1:00 p.m.
