UMass Defeats Dartmouth, 2-1, in Overtime

Hanover, N.H. -- Junior All-American Anke Bruemmer (Koeln, Germany) scored two goals and seniors Lucy Koch (Ipswich, Mass.) and Patty Robinson (Norwood, Mass.) each had two assists to lead the eighth ranked University of Massachusetts field hockey team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Dartmouth College Tuesday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The win improves UMass to 14-3 overall while Dartmouth falls to 7-6.
Down 1-0, Bruemmer scored off a penalty corner, setup by Koch and Robinson, at 17:39 to give UMass a 1-1 tie at the half.
After a scoreless second half for both teams, the game was decided in overtime when Bruemmer scored again from Koch and Robinson on another penalty corner just 5:17 into the extra period.
Freshman Rebekka Stucker scored at 12:28 into the game to give the Big Green an early 1-0 lead.
Senior Zowie Tucker (Neath, South Wales) made six saves on the afternoon while Brittany D'Augustine made 12 saves for the Big Green.
The Minutewomen return to action at home this weekend when they host West Chester Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:00 p.m. and La Salle, Sunday, Oct. 29, 12:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Garber Field.
