WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - What was a defensive battle for the first 90 minutes was settled very early in overtime, as Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) fed fellow senior Todd Baron (Albertson, N.Y.), who blasted a shot from fifteen yards away just three minutes into the extra session for the game's only goal, as UMass (2-2) downed the University of Hartford 1-0 on Tuesday night at Al-Marzook Field.
The two teams combined for just 19 shots in 93 minutes of play. Sophomore Bryan O'Quinn (Feeding Hills, Mass.) made six saves and recorded his first victory of the season and the first shutout of his career. Chris Doyle made four saves in a losing effort for Hartford (1-2)}.
UMass will host the University of Maine on Friday night at Szot Park in Chicopee. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
