AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass volleyball team will host intra-state rival Harvard at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28, in Curry Hicks Cage. The Minutewomen are coming off a tough loss at Rhode Island on Sept. 25, where they fell in five games, 12-15, 20-18, 15-11, 12-15, 3-15. UMass is 5-6 (1-2 Atlantic 10) this season.

"Rhode Island was a very disappointing loss," assistant coach Cindy Gregory says. "But we are ahead of where we usually are this time of year. We have been working on improving our offensive system, and it is time for everybody on the team to step up. We need to be deeper and we need to have everybody contributing."

Senior Jill Meyers (Huntington Beach, Calif.) is averaging 4.43 kills and 3.00 digs per game to lead the Minutewomen. Senior Kari Hogancamp (Huntington Beach, Calif.) is posting 3.25 kills and 4.97 digs a game and has tallied double-doubles in the past five matches. Sophomore Heather Holtsberg (Wheaton, Ill.) is averaging 11.00 assists per game at setter.

The Crimson are 5-6 this season and are coming off a 3-2 victory over New Hampshire on Sept. 25. Sophomore Erin Denniston leads the squad in kills with 3.77 per game, while junior Angela Lutich tops the team in digs with 3.92 a game. Junior Julie Yick is averaging 12.60 assists per game at setter. The Minutewomen lead the series, 5-3.

"The win over New Hampshire was a really good win for them," Gregory says. "They are a very good ball controlling team. Linda Jellison is always a factor for them and they have three outside hitters who are hitting very well this year."
