AMHERST, Mass. - Boston University?s Joachim Kaland broke a scoreless tie with 9:33 left in regulation and Tony Piperno added an insurance goal less than five minutes later, as Boston University defeated UMass 2-0 at Totman Field on Sunday afternoon. Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made six saves in defeat for UMass (3-3). Matt Smith posted five saves in a shutout win for the Terriers (2-2).
UMass will return to action on Friday afternoon when they host the first round of the UMass Soccer Classic. Hartford will meet #11 Washington at 2:00 p.m., while the Minutemen will play Siena at 4:00 p.m.
