AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Rebecca Hasson (Riverside, Calif.) swatted 11 kills out of 17 attacks with no errors to hit a career-high .647 in the University of Massachusetts 15-1, 15-4, 15-5, sweep of Duquesne on Nov. 5 in Amherst, Mass. The Minutewomen improve to 7-6 in the Atlantic 10 (13-11 overall) with the victory, while the Dukes fall to 3-11 in the conference (9-18 overall).
"We were very effective in the middle attack," head coach Bonnie Kenny said. "When we can run our middle attach like that, our pace of the game is so much better that it is really hard for the other team to get into a rhythm and ball control.
"I don?t think Duquesne played its best match, but I do think we had a little bit to do with that. I thought we were determined from start to finish. I am very happy with the way we played tonight."
Senior Kari Hogancamp (Huntington Beach, Calif.) tallied a team-high 12 digs in addition to seven kills and two service aces. Senior Jill Meyers (Huntington Beach, Calif.) added nine kills, eight digs and four blocks. Sophomore Lymarie Llovet (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) recorded six kills and six digs.
Senior Anita Ball led Duquesne with 11 kills, while sophomore Mindy Buhrow topped the squad in digs with nine on the night.
UMass as a team hit .330 for the game, including swatting nine out of 18 attacks with no errors in game one to hit .444. The Minutewomen finished off the Dukes in a season-low 55 minutes of play.
UMass will return to Curry Hicks Cage on Nov. 6 versus Fordham at 7 p.m.
