Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - The University of Massachusetts men?s soccer team dropped its final game of the regular season 1-0 to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.
Alex Schmidt provided all the offense the Bonnies needed with a goal at 78:18, as his blast found its way through a crowd and beat UMass senior goalkeeper Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.). Fowler made a career-high ten saves in the loss for the Minutemen (13-6, 8-3 Atlantic 10). Rob Vartugian made made six saves while earning the shutout for the Bonnies (10-9, 8-3 Atlantic 10).
UMass will travel to Dayton, Ohio for the 1999 Bell Atlantic/Atlantic 10 Championship, beginning this Friday at either 6:00 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. Their opponent will be announced by the conference office later this afternoon.
